Traveling with your pet can be an exciting experience and one that brings you comfort, whether you’re planning a quick getaway or a long-distance adventure with your pet. It is important to consider some essential factors to ensure a safe trip for you and your pet.

  • Plan ahead:
    • It can take several weeks to several months to complete the process, so it's important to plan ahead.
      • Research and prepare in advance to understand the requirements and regulations of your destination and airlines. Some destinations and airlines have very different and detailed rules that must be followed.
      • Check out the USDA website to view the requirements for your destination
      • Traveling to Hawaii: The State of Hawaii has special requirements even when flying from the mainland USA. Learn more HERE.  
  • Appointments are REQUIRED

Some countries require a 21-30 day waiting period after a rabies vaccine is given before your pet can travel. Check the requirements of your destination.

  • Sometimes a pet must be seen multiple times before a trip depending on the destination.

If you require a translator, please have someone available to translate for you when you call the office.  We also ask that you bring someone with you to your appointment who can assist the veterinarian with gathering and completing information so that the processing is not delayed.*
