Job Summary

We are a dynamic and collaborative privately-owned hospital that has been providing small animal care for the residents of Northern New Jersey and the New York Hudson Valley. We are a full-service AAHA accredited hospital and VetCOT certified level II trauma center with 60+ veterinarians including board-certified specialists in emergency and critical care (3), surgery (2), internal medicine (5), cardiology (1), neurology (3), oncology (2), exotics (1), and nutrition (1). Our emergency and critical care service includes 18 staff doctors and 4 residents. Our general interns also rotate through the emergency service and assist with overnight care. Our 24-hour facility has a very busy emergency service that provides a dynamic, interesting, and challenging caseload. Oure 1200-square-food Critical Care Unit is a highly equipped, state-of-the-art facility that includes multiple oxygen cages, high-flow oxygen capabilities, a Puritan Bennet 840 Ventilator, multi-parameter monitors for continuous case side monitoring, an in-house laboratory as well as multiple point-of-care testing capabilities, and a Mindray Central Station for continuous ECG monitoring via telemetry. In addition, our hospital’s diagnostic imaging capabilities include digital radiography, ultrasonography, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Veterinarian to provide urgent and critical care for a diverse range of animal patients. The ideal candidate will possess strong veterinary medical skills, exceptional animal handling abilities, and a compassionate approach to pet care. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick decision-making and teamwork are essential to saving lives and improving animal health outcomes.

Duties

  • Provide medical care for dogs and cats presenting through our emergency service. Experience with exotic animal species is preferred but not an absolute requirement.

Position Overview

The Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Technician plays a central role in triage, nursing care, technical procedures, anesthesia support, and communication within our busy ECC department. You’ll work closely with clinicians, assistants, and fellow technicians to provide life-saving care and ensure smooth service flow throughout the unit. Available Schedules

Swing Shifts (4 days, 40 hours)

  • Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday
  • Shift windows: 4pm–2am or 2pm–12am

Overnight Shifts

  • Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday: 9pm–7am (4 days, 40 hours)
  • Rotating overnight schedule: 7pm–7am (3 days, 36 hours)

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Assessment

  • Perform triage and assess patient stability
  • Recognize abnormal heart/lung sounds, signs of shock, pain, and decompensation
  • Complete and document all treatment orders accurately
  • Administer parenteral medications, IV fluids, and CRIs
  • Provide recumbent and post-operative nursing care
  • Administer and monitor blood transfusions

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Veterinary Technician – Anesthesia Technician to join our clinical team. Key Responsibilities

Anesthesia Administration & Monitoring

Position Overview

The ERPA Veterinary Assistant (Emergency Pod Assistant) plays an integral role in supporting the Emergency Service as a whole rather than any individual veterinarian. This position is designed to enhance client service, improve patient flow, and assist the emergency team during peak times. You will work closely with emergency doctors, technicians, assistants, triage staff, and Client Services to support efficient, compassionate care from arrival to discharge.

This role requires excellent communication, emotional steadiness, attention to detail, and a strong ability to support clients in potentially stressful circumstances. A working knowledge of Oradell’s Triage Protocol is essential; participation in Triage Committee updates (every 1–2 years) is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

Veterinarian Assistance & Outpatient Support

  • Assist multiple emergency doctors throughout the shift
  • Support exam room functions: TPRs, patient restraint, and basic patient handling
  • Enter medications into the computer
  • Fill prescriptions once the pharmacy is closed
  • Discuss medications, wound and bandage care, Sub-Q fluid administration, diabetic care, and feeding tube guidance with clients (depending on training)
  • Assist with outpatient treatments: SQ fluids, injectable medications, blood draws, and restraint for minor procedures
  • Complete requests for lab work, radiology, surgery, and ultrasound
  • Escort clients to checkout or assist with estimate discussions
  • Notify referral veterinarians and ER doctors when patients are seen or when a patient’s status changes

Admission Process Support

  • Assist with admit paperwork, labels, and preparing admission folders
  • Ensure client belongings (leashes, collars, carriers) are returned
  • Help arrange owner visitation with hospitalized patients

Triage System Flow & Client Communication

  • Monitor the triage board and update client/patient status
  • Assist Client Services in placing clients in the appropriate rooms
  • Check in with waiting clients and re-evaluate patients when appropriate
  • Request additional triage evaluations if needed
  • Communicate frequently with triage techs, ER doctors, interns, residents, assistants, and Client Services
  • Monitor the ECC message center and assist with call-backs when appropriate

Key Responsibilities

Instrument Processing & Sterilization

  • Decontaminate, clean, and disinfect surgical instruments according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity

  • Operate sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washer-disinfectors) following manufacturer’s guidelines.

The General Practice Technician/Assistant is an essential member of the Oradell Animal Hospital health care team. This role supports doctors and clients during general practice appointments and while caring for hospitalized patients.

Team members provide:

  • Technical support for doctors during exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Client education and instruction for home care needs
  • Maintenance of exam rooms, supplies, cleanliness, and equipment
  • Support Client Services and Patient Services to ensure smooth hospital operations

Key Responsibilities

Veterinary Technical Support

  • Assist veterinarians with:
  • Hospital admissions and discharge
  • Exam room procedures
  • TPRs, patient restraint, venipuncture, vaccines

  • Placing IV catheters for non-critical patients
  • Using Cubex and entering medications/charges into the computer
  • Accurate, timely documentation in medical records

This is a client-facing position that requires strong communication skills, accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. While based in a veterinary setting, this role involves minimal animal contact and focuses on billing, financial counseling, and administrative support.

Veterinary or medical billing experience is a strong plus. Preemployment drug screening and background checks are required.

  • Weekend and evening shift differentials available

Full-time position, 40 hours per week, including one weekend day and required holiday rotations.

Client Communication & Financial Counseling

Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician/Assistant is an integral member of the Oradell Animal Hospital health care team. This role supports the pharmacy, doctors, clients, and patients by ensuring accurate preparation of medications, maintaining pharmacy operations, and providing excellent service during clinic visits and hospital stays.

Team members are responsible for:

  • Medication preparation and processing under veterinarian supervision
  • Technical and clinical support for doctors during appointments and procedures
  • Client education regarding medication usage and instructions
  • Maintenance of pharmacy and exam rooms, including inventory, organization, and cleanliness
  • Assistance to Client Services and Patient Services to ensure efficient hospital operations

Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations

  • Maintain and manage pharmacy materials, supplies, and protocols.
  • Stock the dispensing pharmacy (non‑Cubex items).
  • Prepare and process medication refills and prescription diet refills.
  • Dispense medications for:
  • Phone requests
  • Clinic appointments
  • Patients being discharged
  • Complete requests from the online pharmacy portal.
  • Obtain veterinarian approval for new and refill prescriptions.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory and ensure shelves are properly stocked.
  • Ensure pharmacy equipment and work areas are clean, organized, and functional.

Prescription Processing & Client Communication

  • Answer phone calls and assist clients with medication questions.
  • Provide clear instructions on proper administration of medications.
  • Field questions regarding prescription diets and medication plans.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians regarding approvals and clarifications.

Technical & Clinical Support

  • Provide general technical assistance for doctors as needed during clinic procedures.
  • Support exam room operations by maintaining supplies and cleanliness.
  • Assist in client education regarding medications and treatment plans.

Administrative & System Responsibilities

  • Use the hospital’s EMR- Ezyvet and vetradar to:
  • Document prescriptions
  • Process medication requests
  • Update client and patient records
  • Ensure accurate tracking of medications dispensed.

Additional Duties

  • Perform any tasks assigned by the Nursing Manager or Supervisors.
  • Assist other departments when needed.
  • Participate in required training, continuing education, and competency development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs

The Supervisor of Client Services is a member of the Oradell Animal Hospital Health Care Team who will work closely with the Outpatient Services Manager and Client Services team to help facilitate daily operations while maintaining a high quality of client service and fostering an atmosphere of teamwork. This position requires customer service knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task. This person will be expected to communicate consistently and constructively with the managers, supervisors, fellow CSR’s clients and doctors. The client services supervisor must have a working knowledge of all areas of the department including: greeting, phones, filling, cashiering, surgery office and medical records. The client services supervisor must be able to assume the duties of any client services position whenever necessary. 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise client service representatives including accountability for high quality performance
  • Inform manager of any positive or negative concerns about employee performance, training, shift needs, etc. Be able to carry out the disciplinary process, if necessary
  • Maintain a professional environment with client services representatives at all times
  • Ensure effective communication between client service representative and veterinary staff
  • Responsible for upholding the hospital’s mission statement/codes of conduct and supporting the decisions of the Outpatient Services Manager
  • Provide input to the Outpatient Services Manager regarding employee interviews, hiring, and performance evaluations
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and be aware of hospital policies to ensure shift is running smoothly
  • Responsible for staff training and accountability regarding all client services personnel under the direction of the Outpatient Services Manager 
  • Ensure that the client services staff meets the standards of appearance, communication, conduct and service for the department and hospital
  • Organize and conduct staff meetings, when asked

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong interest in customer service required 
  • Must have prior supervisory experience or have shown some capacity to perform in a leadership role
  • Must be articulate and able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and clients
  • Must acquire a working knowledge of all areas o the hospital
