Just as in human medicine, blood products are a lifesaving resource for critically ill or injured pets. But sometimes, blood can be hard to get.
That’s why Oradell Animal Hospital has an onsite blood bank program. This all-volunteer initiative helps ensure that an adequate supply of blood products is always available for dogs and cats in need. Our inventory of blood and plasma products is donated by pets just like yours.
Would you permit your pet to join our blood donor program to help save another pet’s life?
The donation process is carefully monitored by our veterinary team, with your pet’s comfort and well-being as our top priority. We also pamper our donors with loads of affection and treats!
In appreciation of our donors who share the gift of life—and the pet parents who recognize the importance of blood donation in veterinary medicine—we offer the following benefits:
To ensure your pet’s safety and the safety of each patient receiving blood products, all donors must meet these criteria:
We’ll carefully examine your dog or cat to ensure they’re physically and temperamentally suited to donating blood. Once your pet passes this exam, we ask you to commit to the program for a minimum of four donations over a one-year period. Pets can safely donate blood as often as every eight weeks.
