Dr. Asal Bastani has pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian since childhood. What began as a dream evolved into a deep passion as she explored the diverse opportunities within veterinary medicine. At just 15 years old, she began shadowing veterinarians, an experience that led to her first role as a veterinary assistant.
While earning her B.S. degree in Animal Science at UC Davis, Dr. Bastani worked as a laboratory assistant, contributing to research on SIV and SARS-CoV-2. Her collaboration with research veterinarians during this time gave her a greater appreciation for the scientific side of the profession.
During veterinary school at Long Island University, she continued gaining hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant, further developing her clinical and practical skills in tandem with her academic education.
Driven by her love for animals, a passion for educating others, and a natural curiosity, Dr. Bastani remains deeply engaged with emerging research and advancements in the field. She particularly values the continuous learning veterinary medicine offers, especially as new treatments and discoveries evolve. She looks forward to expanding her skills and making meaningful contributions to both clinical practice and the broader veterinary community.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Bastani enjoys spending time at the beach, running, hiking, and exploring new restaurants and cuisines.
