Dr. Parascandola is extremely passionate about One Health – the intersection between human, animal, and environmental health – and believes that veterinarians play a crucial role in this movement!
Dr. Parascandola worked as a veterinary assistant all throughout college and then worked intermittently as a technician during her masters and veterinary education. She has also worked as a zookeeper at the Bronx and Prospect Park Zoo, conducted research, and volunteered within a veterinary education non-profit.
Some of Dr. Parascandola’s favorite parts of being in veterinary medicine entail building a trustworthy relationship with her patients and their “kahu” (a Hawaiian term meaning guardian, protector, or steward that replaces the term pet “owner”). In addition, caring for creatures that cannot speak/advocate for themselves. Lastly, being able to work with every non-human animal species on earth!
In Dr. Parascandola’s free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, reading, yoga, and hiking.
