Clinic Services Department

The Clinic Services Department at Oradell Animal Hospital focuses of the Outpatient clinic. This includes veterinary technicians and assistants supporting the veterinarians during clinic appointments, as well as assisting ER doctors in the clinic. Members of our clinic services department will also work with our Client Service Representatives to ensure a seamless client experience.

    Available Positions in Clinic Services

      Emergency Pod Technician

      This is an exciting opportunity to join our Emergency/Critical Care Service in a team-based approach to enhance our client’s experience through improved client service and efficient patient care during our busier times.  This pod technician position is designed to support the emergency service (doctors, clients, patients) rather than an individual veterinarian These duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Triage patients coming in on emergency Assisting the flow of the Triage System
      • Assist the critical care department with treatments and administer medications
      • Assisting in/providing outpatient treatments: SQ fluids, injectable medications, clipping wounds, drawing blood, holding patients for minor procedures (cystocentesis, ER ultrasound)
      • Assisting the Client Services staff to place clients in appropriate rooms
      • Checking in with clients waiting in an exam room and Re-evaluating pets by re-checking vital signs
      • Communicating with triage technicians, assistants, client service staff, ER staff doctors, residents and interns
      • Thorough knowledge of our Triage Protocol and working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures

      Experience:

      • Minimum 3 years experience as a veterinary technician
      •  CVT or equivalent

      Laboratory Technician

      The purpose of this position is to provide high quality service to clients and patients during their clinic or hospital visits by collecting specimens such as blood, stool and urine and testing/processing such specimens.

      These duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and inventory
      • Report, and maintain accurate laboratory data, both in-house and sent out
      • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot any and all laboratory equipment
      • Assist other Clinic Services personnel as well as Client Services and Patient Services personnel when needed for smooth and efficient hospital service
      • Medical Records and Computer/Impromed usage
      • Phlebotomy and urine collection
      • In-House testing Processing, performing, and resulting all in house testing, including but not limited to: pre-surgical bloodwork, single chemistries and/or panels, CBCs, crossmatches, PT/PTTs, blood typing, urinalysis, PCV/TPs, WBC and/or PLT estimates and RBC morphology from blood smears, slide agglutination, slide preparation for various staining, etc.

      Oncology Veterinary Technician

      The purpose of this position is to assist the veterinarians and technicians with patient care in all areas of our oncology practice. These duties include, but are not limited to:

      • assist oncologist with daily rounds
      • assist oncologist with clinic appointments
      • assist with client communication (in-hospital and outpatient cases)
      • assist with all facets of paperwork, including treatment records and requisitions
      • schedule outpatient and admission appointments
      • stock supplies and maintain working area (room, hood, etc.)
      • coordinate and handle chemotherapy treatments and assist oncologist with diagnostic procedures (including calculating dosages, preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic agents, and post-treatment monitoring)
      • maintain and order equipment and supplies
      • Complete any additional tasks or duties that may be assigned as needed by the Clinic Services Manager or Supervisors

       

      The ideal candidate should possess the following traits and skills:

      Experience:

      • Credentialed technician (Completion of AVMA accredited program) or experienced technician
      • Prior work experience or interest in oncology preferred (knowledge of preparation and proper handling of chemotherapeutic agents)

       

      Full-time day shift, including one weekend day, holidays and on-call shifts

      Pharmacy Technician

      The purpose of this position is to provide high quality service to clients and patients during their clinic or hospital visits by preparing medications under the direction and supervision of the veterinarians and providing client education by explaining and giving instructions.

       

      These duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Report, and maintain accurate laboratory data, both in-house and sent out
      • Assist other Clinic Services personnel as well as Client Services and Patient Services personnel when needed for smooth and efficient hospital service
      • Medical Records and Computer/Impromed usage
      • Dispensing medications from phone requests, clinic appointments, and for patients being discharged from the hospital
      •  
      • Completing any additional tasks or duties that may be assigned as needed by the Clinic Services Manager or Supervisors
