Oradell Animal Hospital
Oradell Animal Hospital, in keeping with its mission of compassionate care, is pleased to offer a pet bereavement class for those mourning the loss of their precious animal companion within the past three months. The group meets once a month on Tuesday evenings promptly at 7:00 PM. Out of respect for bereaved group member late arrivals will not be permitted to join the group past 7:10 PM. Group focus includes the sharing of memories, receiving support throughout the grieving process and honoring the lives of our very special friends. Participants may attend up to three sessions, which can be attended over the course of a year and the classes are free of charge. To respect the privacy of attendees, there is no formal registration process. Attendees must be at least 16 years of age or older. The promotion of products or services during this class is not allowed.
The group is facilitated by Susan Stone, LCSW a licensed clinical social worker with certifications in bereavement and who is also a former Delta Society Evaluator and Pet Partner Instructor. Ms. Stone initiated Animal Assisted Therapy Programs on several psychiatric units at Bergen County hospitals, and writes and speaks on the importance of the animal-human bond. Ms. Stone, a client of Oradell Animal Hospital formed the group after losing Dickens, her golden retriever and pet partner of many years.
